How Troubleshooting with Henry began…

  • In the spring of 2020, my life skills and job coach, Kate Hurman and I had made plans to volunteer for a number of different organizations in our community. For a number of years we had done this work to build job-skills strengths, and to engage with our community. We had applied and interviewed for different positions and our plans were shaping up well, it was going to be a great summer. Then the pandemic hit and all our plans were cancelled. We had a lot of thinking to do…

  • We considered our options, what was possible, let our imaginations fly and created a Plan B. Following up on a long-time ambition, we decided to start a YouTube channel, something I had always wanted to try.

I’m a world traveller. I’ve travelled to the Dominican Republic. I’ve travelled across Canada and the United States, touring both countries in an RV. I’ve been to Europe four times, and travelled extensively around France, Spain, and Portugal. I began my travel journey as a very young child, in fact I once took a flat-out nap on the fold-down tray on an airplane!

We decided to put all of my travel experience to use for other people, preparing them with solid tips, tricks and hacks for when they could travel again. Using my real-life experience, the videos offer solid advice for a number of difficult situations. That became Series 1 of Troubleshooting with Henry. We learned a lot over the course of 20 Episodes and it was a lot of work but also a lot of fun.

In 2021, the pandemic was still on-going, so we decided to continue with Series 2 of Troubleshooting with Henry. We went back to a research and development phase and emerged with fresh ideas about what we could do.

Missing contact with other people, we decided we would interview special guests who had wonderful stories to share and solid advice for troubleshooting difficult situations in life.

Our guests included professional Martial Artists, Teachers, Actors and Scientists. We conducted all of the interviews over Zoom and edited the sessions to create 13 episodes.

We asked each guest the same set of 10 questions and got very different answers in response. Our guests were so generous with their time and thoughts and shared great stories and valuable advice. We thank them so much and know we couldn’t have done it without them.

  • We’re looking forward to continuing the learning adventure and who knows what the future may bring!

What we have learned is that by investing in ourselves, thinking big, and planning well, we can accomplish great things. With a great team, enough practise and dedication, anything is possible.

We hope you will join us by subscribing to our YouTube channel and following along on the blog!

    Happy Travels!
